Kolekole Pass
Kolekole Pass (open 5:30 am to 5:30 pm 7 days a week) is an alternate route from Waianae to Schofield Barracks and to the North Shore...unfortunately it is only open to military ID card holders. This pass goes through Navy and Army property and because of a concern for security, civilians are not allowed through. On the Navy side (Lualualei) there are old military family homes which I think they should open up to the homeless....just so that they have a place to live and free up the beautiful beaches along the Waianae coastline. I guess it's easier said than done. The old shack is from 1937 that was either a lookout or used for a sentry to monitor the pass.
Either way, the drive is a beautiful one and overlooks the Waianae coast.....one of the best kept secrets on Oahu.
