Caitlin got her Christmas present early today. An 8 week old Silky Terrier. Her name is CoCo and she is the cutest thing. She's extremely playful and seems to be the perfect present for Caitlin....they keep each other busy.

Caitlin and Dominique's Gingerbread houses

 

 

 

Dominique came over this weekend and made Gingerbread houses with us. Her and Caitlin had a fun time.....especially eating the building materials. :)
Their final masterpiece was good enough to eat.

Our Banana tree

 

 

One of our Banana trees came into fruit within the last two days. First the purple bulb flower came and then it sheds some of it's petals to show us the baby bananas shown in the pics above. We can't wait to harvest our first batch.

Koa and his first plane ride......

 

Yesterday was the first time that Koa went on a trip and I felt so sorry for him because he looked so scared. He is the pet of my cousin's son Shane who is on his way to Iraq with the Air Force. I shipped him out of Honolulu to LAX and took a picture of him on his way out of cargo. He flew American (of course) and I have to tell you, they were wonderful with him. Not only was their customer service skills phenomenal, they were extremely helpful in getting Koa out as soon as possible so he can meet up with his Mamma Crystal in California.

We went on a nice hike up to the lighthouse again today. Our neighbors joined us and we had such a nice morning with them. We never get tired of how beautiful it is there.

Hawaii Super Ferry

 

This is the ferry that is also known as H-4. There was such controversy with other islands accepting the ferry into their port. Finally it has been ok'd by the courts and we hope to take advantage of this as soon as possible. We can drive our car onto the ferry and visit the other islands. The rates are pretty reasonable considering you don't have to rent a car when you take your own. I am hoping we can take a trip sometime in December.

It is absolutely beautiful and peaceful where dad and Jen are. I am totally at peace whenever I vist.

I took Grandma Chai out to the Cemetary today and we placed some beautiful flowers and leis on Jen and Dad's site.
She did really well until we drove through the Pali and I turned on the radio. The song that played was one of dad's favorite's that Gram remembers him singing to. She broke down and cried. As much as we both "pretend" that everything is ok, there is still such a deep hurt.
It was a good healing day for us both. After our visit with dad and Jen, we went to the fish market and then home. I whipped up a nice dinner for Gram and I. Around 7 I drove her home so she wouldn't miss her Korean soap opera on TV. :)
I really enjoyed our day together. I intend to have many more with her.

Shane's going away dinner

 

 

 

 

My cousin Anna's son, Shane, left for Iraq today. We had a little going away dinner for him at the house to say goodbye to him. I was so sad to see him go because he seems so young and is about to venture out into a foreign world on his own. I think of my own son and how my cousin Anna must feel about her son leaving. Godspeed to you Shane. We are all here praying for your safe return as soon as possible.
Anna, be strong....we are here for you whenever you need a shoulder or an ear.

Aunty Rose's Birthday Dinner

 

 

 

 

Aunty Rose was beautiful than ever. We celebrated her 80th birthday at a restaurant called Ige's. it was very good and extremely nice to get together with family. I was also able to see my god daughter whom I hadn't seen in several months and she was so nice to see. She's getting to be such a big girl.
Anyway, Aunty had a nice time and it seemed like she was cute when we started singing to her Happy Birthday Aunty Rose......I really hope we can celebrate more birthdays to come.
